Jan 18, 2021 · The only thing that makes me a bit nervous about it is a bit of a rattling or you could call it ticking sound from the engine. I'm not sure where it's coming from, and it's not overly loud but is noticeable if you stand in front of the car and very slightly from the inside at idle. I've not reved the engine to see what happens to the sound then.

Had my exhaust replaced today due to it blowing and the baffle had gone. Car seems soooo much better now. Still noticed that when idling it vibrates, although it was a different vibration noise to what I had before - middle of the car. Turns out it was rattling on the heat shield.
My brother has a 2007 versa with 31K miles. The engine has started to make a rattle noise when it is in idle and in drive, but not if it is in idle and neutral. It's not the CVT. Dealer is telling him this is normal, but it's never done it before. Anyone else heard of this? Thanks

Re: Versa rattling noise at idle (Jamesan) That sounds reasonable, but it could also be a host of other things, from a loose inspection plate or other engine part to something wrong with the transmission shifter or torque converter. I know how frustrating that can be, the clutch started slipping on Versa #1 less than 24 hours after I took it home.
